The Engine Chapter Has Finally Ended!!

It is with a sense of relief that we have decided the engine issue in this chapter of our adventure has finally come to an end!  As we pulled out of the lift slip yesterday, we could tell immediately the performance of the prop was much improved.  When we left the marina at the Naval Air Station last Wednesday on our way to the boat yard, we struggled to achieve 4.5 kts, with the current, with the wind.  As we passed the bascule bridge yesterday, we opened up the throttle and with 3000 rpm, which is what this engine likes to operate at, we hit 6.4 kts against a 1 kt current and 15 kts apparent wind heading back to the marina.  We were both excited and relieved as we realized all of the issues with the engine we have experienced since arriving in Florida are now resolved.

The dinghy is being picked up today and we hope to have it back by Wednesday.  If that is the case, we will be in Hilton Head by Saturday - hopefully Friday.

Today, Renne' and I will head down to St. Augustine to see the oldest city in the United States.  We are going with Gina Gibson (TMCA) and her new husband Bruce Senay.  They are here in Jacksonville for a while.  Renne' has known her for several years and we have had a great time with them.  We will miss them when we leave.

So we had sundowners with Renne's sister, Priscilla and her son, Fletcher yesterday here at the boat.  It is the first time we have had others here for sundowners since we lelft Port Canaveral.  We look forward to more guests from here on out!

Come to sundowners with us tonite!
