We really are here in Key West!
We got here and Renne' got a call that the band for New Year's Eve cancelled for the night. I really think they got a better deal, so the marina was formerly requesting that I play guitar during the evening. I was not pleased initially. I realized that the reason I wanted to be in Key West was to ENJOY New Year's Eve in DOWNTOWN KEY WEST! So I realized downtown was not going to be a reality. However, by the time I got ready to play, about 10pm, I had had a few beers, a few Jack Daniels, and I was not unhappy about getting my guitar out.
New Year's actually came off really well. I ended up playing all of my 60's and 70's music and everybody had a great time. By 1:30am, nobody really cared whether I could play well or not! I liked it!
The work list is getting a bit shorter, but the two biggest projects are the watermaker and the SSB. Well this afternoon, I finished the SSB. I had checked the electrical connection and the radio spooled up well. So the antenna finally was connected and tomorrow, I get to test the SSB finally. I am a general Ham, and never have been on an amateur radio. So tomorrow, I hope, will be the first ever transmission.
So the radio is up and ready. The watermaker is next.
Tonight we are enjoying sundowner's with the neighbor next to us. Her name is Lisa. Her husband, Jeff, is doing what we do, going back home to pick up the car. We drove back to Jacksonville to pick up the car. So now we have it here and haven't used it yet!! Oh well. We will leave it here when we head for the Bahamas.
We are looking forward to it!
So tonight, we are getting ready for dinner. Pork chops with brussels sprouts. These are fresh and delicious. New way of preparing for it!
Have a great day. Looking forward to the next installment.
